Mario Chromý (1974) was selected for the competition’s final for a series of short videos, in which he stages current social, private and intimate situations. His critical-ironic eye is focused on the latencies of inter-personal relations in the context of the so-called other side of society. The artist’s style is authentic and convincing in expression, especially in combining the seemingly documentary character of individual videos with markedly authorial content and specific themes. In addition to this fundamental quality, the works by Mario Chromý are fascinating by the high standard of filmic work, including cut, music, setting, or detailed shooting.
