OXON HILL, Md. — Prince George’s County Police say two gunmen snuck a rifle into MGM National Harbor, burst into a hotel room, and shot a man twice in a hallway before walking away. This brazen robbery last August hasn’t been publicly reported until WUSA9 started asking questions.

Hotels group IHG cautious about travel recovery

InterContinental Hotels Group, owner of the Holiday Inn and Crowne Plaza brands, has warned that the difficulties of the “most challenging year” in its history have stretched into 2021 as new strains of coronavirus force countries to close borders and limit travel.

Tourism Report: Maui County Hotel Occupancy at 21.9% for January 2021

Maui County hotels were at 21.9 percent occupancy for January 2021, according to the latest monthly report from the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority. Photo: Royal Lahaina Resort on Maui.

For January 2021, Maui County hotels led the state at 21.9 percent occupancy, which is down 55.1 percentage points from January 2020 (before the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown) and less than the 26 percent occupancy for December 2020, according to the latest monthly Hawaiʻi Hotel Performance Report published by the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority’s Research Division.

Maui County’s January 2021 supply of room nights was 392,900 (-0.3%).
